Thank you for visiting my 2010 campaign for Chico City Council web site!

I sincerely believe that the city council is the place to apply good old-fashioned family values, common sense, and business sense to our local government. I’m running for Chico City Council so I can apply those values to—and refocus our attentions on—the core missions of our city government. These include police and fire protection, roads and traffic, fiscal management and dealing with our housing pressures through intelligent planning—but without forcing “high density” into our existing neighborhoods.

As someone who has worked in private enterprise for 34 years, including 20 years as a Chico business owner, I will streamline local government processes so that they don’t stifle or burden healthy economic development in our area. I will work to establish the proper infrastructure so that private enterprise is allowed to prosper. Our family-friendly community should not receive, as we recently have, national recognition for being economically depressed or for having particularly unaffordable housing!

My commitment to Chico goes back many years. My wife, Kammie, and I grew up in Chico and have been together since attending Chico High. While we enjoyed our decade in Southern California and my years of electronics and corporate management experience while there, we were thrilled to return to Chico in 1990 so that our three daughters (who are now all at Chico State) could also grow up in our wonderful community.

I've served our community in a variety of ways:

  • 14 years as a board member for Catalyst Domestic Violence Services (eight of those as treasurer)

  • 9 years as a board member of the Chico Chamber of Commerce, including as 2008 Chairman of the Board

  • 7 years as a Park Watch Volunteer

  • 5 year member of Chico Rotary

  • 2 years as a City of Chico Planning Commissioner.

I look forward to representing you as a Chico City Council member!

With your vote I will work to preserve the Chico lifestyle that we all treasure—as well as plan carefully for our community’s future.
